For coding agents
Your agent can search the catalog, read any item's source and install it — through the MCP server, llms.txt or the registry directly.
MCP server
GetUrUI runs a streamable-HTTP MCP endpoint at https://geturui.com/api/mcp. Pass your registry token to unlock Pro sources. With Claude Code:
terminal
1claude mcp add --transport http geturui https://geturui.com/api/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer $GETURUI_TOKEN"
Cursor and other clients take the same URL and header in their MCP settings:
.cursor/mcp.json
1{
2 "mcpServers": {
3 "geturui": {
4 "url": "https://geturui.com/api/mcp",
5 "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer gurui_your_token" }
6 }
7 }
8}
Create a token in Dashboard → Registry tokens. Without one, the server still answers for free items.
Tools
| Tool | What it returns |
|---|---|
search_components | Items matching a query, with collection, tier and docs URL. |
get_component | Description, props, usage and full source (Pro sources need a token). |
install_command | The exact shadcn command for an item and package manager. |
list_collections | Collections and item counts. |
llms.txt
/llms.txt lists every item with a one-line description and its docs and registry URLs, for agents that read context files instead of using MCP.
Prompts that work
- “Use the GetUrUI morphing-modal for the settings dialog. Install it with the CLI, then wire it to our existing form.”
- “Search GetUrUI for a pricing block with a seat slider and adapt it to our two plans.”
- “Replace our tabs with GetUrUI tabs (underline variant) and keep the current routes.”
